They bring the didactic knowledge of university studies in a freely accessible and open atmosphere of a summer academy. Every year, changed the composition of the teaching staff and still remains a continuity due to the teaching concept

Wallace Whitney

Wallace Whitney lives and works in New York City. In 1994 he received a BA degree from Hampshire College in 2011 and an MFA degree from the Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts at Bard College.
His work is characterized by a sensitive approach to the lyrical abstract painting. The images have a strong brushwork and a sensitive and often lush Farbenpalette.Wallace Whitney's work has been shown in the United States and Europe in such notable exhibitions as the "Dream Feed" in the Horton Gallery, 2010, "Bears and Trees" in the gallery Bernard Ceysson Luxembourg in 2011 and "The Feeling That Selcts You" at the Galerie Bernard Ceysson Paris, 2012. He presented in 2011 with a solo exhibition of his work at the Armory Show in New York with the Horton Gallery, which also represents him. He has participated in many group exhibitions participated, including Artits Space in New York, the Kunsthalle Frediricianum, in Kassel, and the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City, Mo. His works have been in timeout London by Martin Coomer, Timeout New York by Nana Asfour, and published in Artforum by James Yood.

The career of Wallace Whitney of the fine / visual arts is remarkably diverse. Although his work is as a studio artist, the basis for his professional life, he is also art gallery owner, writer, curator and educator. Wallace Whitney is a founding partner of the artist-run gallery, CANADA, and since the start of 2001 Co-Director. CANADA since then has built a reputation as a venue for art, which is often playful, emotionally direct and handmade. CANADA occupies a unique position in the landscape of contemporary art, an art gallery, which is admired by artists, critics and art collectors alike.
As a teacher, Wallace Whitney has taught painting and critical theory at the University of Tennessee. He currently teaches at Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia as an associate professor of painting and drawing. He also developed, and is the director of the Tyler School of Art Summer Painting Intensive / Sculpture Summer Intensive, a new post-baccalaureate program founded in 2010. He is a guest lecturer at many institutions including The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland OR, the School of Visual Arts in New York, and at Lehman College in the Bronx.

As a grad...

...the frustrating thing about most MFA programs is having to listen to the same people read the same crap over and over again without edits or any improvement.
I was fortunate to have professors (including my favorite modern playwright)who understood my work and were totally supportive of my writing not being cookie cutter. (I got two scholarships and recommendations to a few NYC theatre groups...yeehaw) Unfortunatly, I had to listen to most of the rest of the cookie cutter crew give the same comments over and over without paying any attention to the text being discussed.
