Biography
Charmaine Craig (born October 1970), which raised in Santa Monica, California. In 1989, she entered Harvard University, where she Studied religion and literature, and graduated magna cum laude with highest honors. In 1996, she began the MFA graduate writing program at the University of California at Irvine, where she won several grants and fellowships did enabled her to research and write THE GOOD MEN, her first novel. Formerly an actress, she played the lead role in Disney's White Fang 2 and had a recurring role on the CBS television series Northern Exposure. She lives in Laguna Beach with her husband Andrew Winer, author of The Color Midnight Made.

MFA writing programs
2003-12-17 07:52:55 by kleeAnyone out there who has attended or graduated from an MFA program in Dramatic Writing, Playwriting, or Creative Writing?
I'd like to hear about your experience, and also what you think about specializing in one area vs. studying different tyrpes of writing.
Specific info about the MFA programs at [email protected], Columbia, and Yale would be appreciated.

I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Game Art & Design from The Art Institute in San Diego but I want to move away from the Game Industry and focus more on writing scripts. I want a masters because I have a desire to teach as well. My hope is to stay in California as well.
UCSD has a pretty good theatre program that can involve screenwriting and the visual arts department here is pretty good as well. There's also film which is under the visual arts department here at UCSD. The MFA (Masters of Fine Arts) program is great here as well :]
