Fashion is a system that gathers material resources, human capital and artistic vision in a single garment. And that reception garment 's cultural diffusion through the market, and disposal is equally complex chain of activity.

The MFA Fashion Design and Society at Parsons The New School for Design is the first graduate program of its kind in the United States. Both interdisciplinary and international in scope, this academy for advanced studies in fashion design train a small group of world-class designers to have a comprehensive understanding of fashion. Innovative and progressive, Fashion Design and Society offer students the opportunity to make substantial contributions, both professional and conceptual-in the field of fashion design.
The program was initiated with the support of Parsons alumna Donna Karan, whose career reflects a broad view of fashion that has transformed the field.
In order to bridge the gap between industry and education, MFA Fashion Design and Society rethinks fashion design education in the context of the global political economy. Students learn to consider the cycles of design, production and distribution as well as the social, ecological criticism and fashion on self-directed projects supported by the fashion industry.
INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH
The program combines intensive studio based design research projects. Research areas include sustainability, globalization, studies of media, social sciences and management. Its interdisciplinary approach extends students' understanding of fashion in its contexto.Su emphasis on new technologies in building tissues and allows students to become outstanding designers and leaders in the field.
Supplementary classes in film, presentation and photography skills expand students' visual design language and communication. This course also prepares them for collaborative environments typical of professional workplaces.

Nesters first two books, God Save My Queen: A Tribute (Soft Skull Press, 2003) and God Save My Queen II: The Show Must Go On (2004), are collections on his obsession with the rock band Queen. His third, The History of My World Tonight (BlazeVOX, 2006), is a collection of poems.
